01By the team behind Brewhand Coffee: 2 cafés, 11 years behind the bar

Make café coffee, at home.

Who are you making coffee for?

Learn it at the bar, then brew it in your kitchen.

03Why this exists

From a borrowed machine to a training bar.

Most coffee advice online is a gear review. The hard part is what the video skips: why the same beans taste sour on Monday and bitter on Friday, and which dial to turn.

This is how Brewhand trains its own baristas. Two cafés, a training bar with six benches, and the habits that keep a busy morning calm. Taught by the two people who run it.

    05How the barista course works

    06Who teaches it

Two trainers, behind the bar every week.

Inês and Dara run Brewhand's two cafés and train every barista who works there. The classes use the same benches, the same beans and the same checks.

    08Before you book

    Good questions.

The ones people ask us at the bar. Anything else, ask Inês on Saturday.

Do I need my own espresso machine?

No. The master class uses brewers most kitchens already have. The course runs on our machines, so you don't need one at home to take it.

I've never made coffee properly. Is that okay?

Yes. About half of each master class has never weighed a dose. You start by tasting, not by measuring.

    Will I learn latte art?

The basics, in module 2 alongside milk: a heart and a tulip. The master class covers milk texture at home, not patterns.

Will the course get me a café job?

It gets you the skills, and a reference if you pass the practical check. We can't promise a job, and anyone who does is guessing.

    What should I bring?

Nothing. Aprons, beans and water are on us. Bring your own beans if you want help dialling them in.

    What if I can't come?

Move your seat to another date up to 48 hours before, or ask for a full refund.

    09Ready for the bar?

Reserve a place on the course.

Four evening modules in groups of six. Three questions first, so we put you in the right group.

Two people per machine. If the course isn't right for you yet, we'll say so before you pay.
